As you can see, my backyard has been my writing inspiration this summer. It's just like God to sprinkle seeds in unexpected places. These flowers were not planted by me. They just sprung up unexpectantly in middle of stone and gravel. Not in a patch of fertile soil full of nutrients. Not at all in a place one would think something could flourish and grow.
I love surprises, and God knows this about me. Just like the rocky soil, so am I. Not exactly a person from which great things could spring forth. Not one perfected and ready by the standards of the world.
This rugged flower wanted to grow, so it is. I want to grow, so I am. My heart is open, my mind willing. I am willing to do what it takes to be ready for God's plan for me. To be used by the King for His glory.
I rest in Him. I grow as I read His word. I relax into this time He alone has prepared for me. I don't need to struggle, strain or worry.
Like this flower, I am blossoming. Into the one God has made me to be. More of Him, less of me. What surprises do you have for me, Papa? I wait in expectation for your best, given from your great love.
I heart you, Mary Beth
